Als Teenager ist das Zimmer ein Zufluchtsort, das ganze Leben in einem Raum. Es ist der Ort, an dem gelitten und gekämpft wird, mit Freunden gelacht wird, sich selbst erkundet wird. Es ist der Raum des Aufwachsens. "Reclaiming Girlhood_the sanctuary" ist der Versuch, diesen Raum zurückzugewinnen, ungeachtet dessen, was dort passiert ist. Für viele trans* Personen ist das Jugendalter eine dysphorische Erfahrung, die einen binären System zurücklässt, das man nicht ganz abschütteln kann und in dem man das Gefühl hat Räumen nicht mehr zugehörig sein zu können, auch wenn dieselben Stigmata und Marginalisierungen geteilt werden. Die Arbeit versucht diese Gefühle zu verarbeiten, das System und die gesellschaftlichen Erwartungen im selbst zu zerstören und die Dinge, die einst geliebt wurden, zurückzugewinnen.

As a teenager, your room is a sanctuary. Its your whole life in one space. It is the place where you suffer and struggle, laugh with friends, explore yourself - the space where you grow up. "Reclaiming Girlhood_the sanctuary" is an attempt to reclaim this space, regardless of what has happened there. For many trans* individuals, adolescence is a dysphoric experience that leaves one stuck in a binary system that cannot be entirely shaken off, where one feels no longer belonging to spaces even when sharing the same stigmas and marginalizations. The work aims to process these feelings, to dismantle the system and societal expectations within oneself, and to reclaim the things that were once loved.
