Bauen im Bestand mit dem Fokus auf historischen Gebäuden

Das Topfhaus wurde 1884/85 als Kerngebäude einer größeren Gewächshausanlage mit dem Botanischen Institut errichtet. Es diente der Umtopfung seltener und exotischer Pflanzen sowie der Bewässerung und Beheizung der angeschlossenen Gewächshäuser. Nach der Verlegung des Botanischen Gartens 1984 wurden die angrenzenden Gewächshäuser abgerissen, nur der Kernbau blieb erhalten. Mit dem Umbau des Topfhauses entsteht das „kräuter quartier“: ein Teehaus mit eigener Herstellung, Verkaufsfläche für eigens produzierte Tees und einem „Teecafé“. Besucher sind eingeladen, sich zu entspannen, Heilpflanzen zu erforschen und ihren Genuss zu erleben. Diese Initiative belebt den alten Botanischen Garten neu und schafft einen Treffpunkt für Mitarbeitende und Patientinnen des benachbarten Krankenhauses sowie für Botanikinteressierte und Teeliebhaberinnen. Die heilende Wirkung von Pflanzen wird betont und geschätzt, was dem Ort eine neue Bedeutung verleiht und die Gesundheitsförderung durch Natur hervorhebt.

Construction in existing buildings with a focus on historical buildings

The potting house was built in 1884/85 as the core building of a larger greenhouse complex with the Botanical Institute. It was used for repotting rare and exotic plants as well as for watering and heating the adjoining greenhouses. After the Botanical Garden was relocated in 1984, the adjacent greenhouses were demolished and only the core building remained. With the conversion of the pot house, the “herb quarter” was created: a tea house with its own production, sales area for teas produced in-house and a “tea café”. Visitors are invited to relax, explore medicinal plants and experience their delights. This initiative revitalizes the old botanical garden and creates a meeting place for staff and patients of the neighbouring hospital as well as for botany enthusiasts and tea lovers. The healing effects of plants are emphasized and appreciated, giving the place a new meaning and highlighting the promotion of health through nature.
